In commemoration of the victims of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki

Being a network members of the United Religion Initiative, Organization for Peace and Development Organization organized an activity in regard to remember the victims of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki along with its members organization based in Lahore on August 4, 2008.H.E. Mr. Brayan De Hunt was the chief guest of the program; where as Mr. I A Rehman was the special guest for the program. Religious leaders from all faiths were present there namely, Javed Akbar Saqi, Allama Zubair Ahmad Zaheer, Dr. Feroze Kanwal, Zaman Khan, Yousaf Bijnori, Dr. Manawar Chand.Mr. Jahangir Piara welcomed the guests and briefed about the activity. He also shared some information regarding the lasting affects of the atomic bombs till date. Mr. Brayan D Hunt in his speech that the use of atomic bomb was the greatest incident and catastrophy of the history. He further said that this kind of action and experience must not be repeated. He said that no country is superior than the others, no nation is superior than the others, no religion is the superior than the others, no colour and culture is the superior than others.

At the end of his speech he said that all countries and religions of the world should prevail their relations on the basis of equality and should continue their efforts for the restoration of peace in the world.Rev. Fr. James Channan who was presiding the event shared the history and information about atomic bombs. And asked all the participants to pray for the victims of the atomic bomb in silence. He further said that all countries of the world should try to solve all conflicts through dialogue.

At the end of the program special prayer was said for the suffering families of atomic bomb. And appeal was made to all atomic powers not to use the atomic bomb especially to Pakistan and India.Being activity coordinator Jahangir Piara thanked all the participants for their kind participation to remember the historic catastrophy with the wishes not to repeat this kind of activity in the future.For the success of the activity following persons played an active role Jahangir Piara (Activity Coordinator), Akhtar Murad, Francis Xavier, Zubair Ahmad Farooq, Asad Yameen, Shumaila Bhatti, Younas Khan, and Aftab Jave.
